The Council for Leather Exports (CLE) was set up in July 1984. A non profit company registered under the Indian Companies Act 1956, the CLE functions as an autonomous organization under the aegis of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. The CLE is the notified Export Promotion Council for Leather & Leather Products namely Leather tanning, Leather Footwear, non-Leather Footwear, Leather garments, Leather goods & accessories, gloves, harness & saddlery products etc.
