In the early 1970s Mrs. De Fonseca and her husband came from the shoe industry to set up a slipper company with production based in China.
The combination of Italian design, expertise in Italian shoemaking and competitive prices, allowed De Fonseca to very soon become not only the leader in Italy but also a synonim for slippers.
In the 1980s, De Fonseca ventured outside Italy to become one of the most well-known brand in Western and Eastern Europe.
Today the company numbers 75 people in Turin (Italy) and in the two subsidiaries located in Shanghai and Moscow and it produces and sells about 6 millions pairs per year.
The company is no longer in the hands of a family but in fact owned by investment funds. The company is now engaged in an important plan to expand outside Europe, with the ambitious goal of becoming the Number 1 slipper company in the world.
